    About LearningRx Charlottesville

LearningRx Charlottesville provides one-on-one brain training programs that strengthen the cognitive skills essential for learning, thinking, and performing in school, work, and daily life. Rather than tutoring that re-teaches academic content, LearningRx addresses the underlying cognitive weaknesses that cause learning struggles—training skills like attention, memory, processing speed, auditory processing, and logic and reasoning. Their customized programs serve children struggling in school, teens seeking to push their abilities to the next level, learners with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, or other cognitive differences, and adults experiencing memory decline or recovering from brain injuries. Every client receives a comprehensive cognitive skills assessment before starting, providing a clear picture of how they learn, why they struggle, and what steps will lead to improvement.

The LearningRx approach is backed by decades of research and proven results. Between 2010 and 2022, over 25,000 LearningRx clients nationwide completed their programs, with those ages 4-17 gaining an average of 3.2 years in attention skills. The largest improvements across all clients were seen in long-term memory, attention, auditory processing, and logic and reasoning. The Charlottesville center has personally helped more than 1,500 learners achieve life-changing results. Parents report children going from hating reading to loving it, students who once needed extra help becoming confident independent learners, and adults returning to demanding jobs after strokes. LearningRx Charlottesville holds a 4.9-star rating on Google from 133+ reviews, with clients consistently praising the dramatic improvements in focus, confidence, problem-solving skills, and academic performance.

What makes LearningRx different from traditional tutoring is the focus on building stronger learning skills rather than simply reviewing class material. Tutoring can help students who missed classes, moved schools, or need content review, but it doesn't address why a student struggles in the first place. LearningRx training is designed for students who work harder or longer than peers, have trouble focusing, struggle with core skills like reading or math, or have tried tutoring without seeing lasting results. The training is delivered one-on-one by dedicated brain trainers who push clients to their cognitive limits in a supportive, game-based environment. Sessions are customized to each learner's specific weaknesses and goals, making the training appropriate for brains of all ages—from elementary students to working adults.

LearningRx Charlottesville is located at 1441 Sachem Place, Unit 3, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The first step for anyone interested is scheduling a cognitive skills assessment, which provides a detailed report on strengths and weaknesses and a clear roadmap for improvement. The center serves families throughout Charlottesville and Albemarle County who are looking for an alternative to traditional tutoring—one that doesn't just help students catch up, but fundamentally changes how they learn and think for the rest of their lives.

Best for: Students struggling in school despite tutoring, children and teens with ADHD or dyslexia, learners with autism or other cognitive differences, adults experiencing memory decline, individuals recovering from brain injuries or strokes, high-achievers seeking to maximize cognitive potential, families looking for an alternative to traditional tutoring

The first step is scheduling a cognitive skills assessment, which provides a detailed report on strengths and weaknesses and allows the LearningRx team to recommend the most appropriate program and provide cost information. What's the difference between LearningRx and tutoring?

Tutoring re-teaches academic content from class, which can help students who missed lessons or need content review. LearningRx trains the underlying cognitive skills—like memory, attention, processing speed, and logic—that make learning possible in the first place. Brain training addresses the root cause of learning struggles, helping students become more confident and independent learners across all subjects. LearningRx is best for students who struggle despite tutoring, work harder than peers, have trouble focusing, or have been diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, or other learning differences.

Who can benefit from LearningRx brain training?

LearningRx serves children, teens, and adults. Common clients include students struggling in school or with reading and math, learners who want to push their abilities to the next level, individuals with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, or other cognitive differences, and adults experiencing memory decline or recovering from brain injuries or strokes. The training is customized one-on-one for each client's specific needs and goals.

What happens during the cognitive skills assessment?

The cognitive skills assessment is the first step for every LearningRx client. It's a comprehensive evaluation that measures key cognitive skills like memory, attention, processing speed, auditory processing, and logic and reasoning. After the assessment, you receive a detailed report showing strengths and weaknesses, an explanation of why learning struggles are occurring, and a clear roadmap for improvement through brain training. The assessment provides the data needed to create a fully customized training program.

What kind of results can I expect from brain training?

Between 2010 and 2022, over 25,000 LearningRx clients nationwide completed programs, with those ages 4-17 gaining an average of 3.2 years in attention skills. The largest improvements across all clients were seen in long-term memory, attention, auditory processing, and logic and reasoning. Individual results vary, but LearningRx Charlottesville has helped over 1,500 local learners achieve measurable improvements in focus, confidence, problem-solving, reading comprehension, and academic performance. Every client is measured before and after training to track cognitive gains.

How do I get started with LearningRx Charlottesville?

The first step is scheduling a cognitive skills assessment. You can schedule by calling (434) 220-7475 or visiting learningrx.com/charlottesville. The assessment provides a detailed picture of how you or your child learns, identifies the root causes of any struggles, and allows the LearningRx team to recommend a customized training program. After the assessment, you'll receive a clear explanation of results and next steps.

How long does a LearningRx program take?

Program length varies based on each client's specific needs and goals. After the cognitive skills assessment, the LearningRx team recommends a customized training plan with an estimated timeline. Training is delivered one-on-one in sessions scheduled throughout the week. Clients typically train multiple times per week over several months to achieve lasting cognitive gains.

Does LearningRx work with kids who have ADHD, dyslexia, or autism?

Yes. LearningRx specializes in working with learners who have ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and other cognitive differences. The brain training approach strengthens the specific cognitive skills that are often weak in these populations—like attention, processing speed, working memory, and auditory processing. Many parents report that LearningRx helped their children become more focused, confident, and independent learners where traditional tutoring and classroom interventions had failed.

    What Customers Love

LearningRx has been an absolute blessing for our family. We were introduced to LearningRx through my son’s school after he struggled for years with focus, staying on task, problem solving and reading. His confidence was very low, and school was a challenge. After working with Margaret and the amazing team, the change has been incredible. My son is now a much more confident reader and problem solver. He stays focused, is more engaged during class and classwork, and truly believes in himself again. This team is absolutely incredible, and I would recommend LearningRx to anyone. A huge thank you to Margaret and the entire team for everything they’ve done for my son.

I enrolled my high school senior and 5th grader in LearningRX in Lexington KY maybe 13 years ago. Both were diagnosed with ADHD, the younger was gifted/talented, very smart kiddo and I wanted to increase his chance for success academically. I found out when my older son was a senior (I paid out of pocket for a private full educational evaluation) that he didn't have ADHD but an auditory processing problem. LearningRX seemed "too little, too late" but I was committed to giving him every opportunity for success and I was worried to death about his future given his historically dismal academic performance and the results from the educational evaluation. It was all very bleak to say the least. He had a passion for computers since middle school, built computers for himself and others in high school, went on to study computers and is now a hardware expert at MicroSoft, probably their youngest hire, 5 star reviews, his bosses gush about him, earning six figures, he is house shopping! He is also a nationally ranked gamer. He is articulate with terrific social skills. He mentioned to me a couple of years ago, out of the blue, that he believes the skills he practiced at LearningRX really made a difference, that he can see himself applying the techniques he learned. You could have knocked me over! I thought LearningRX should know this success story.

We had an amazing experience with Learning Rx and would recommend it to anyone kids or adults. Their approach to the brain and learning helps to restructure the way they think and process information. It helped our Son not only with learning, but behavior, and drive to succeed. Thank you learning Rx and the whole team there.

    Charles Wood, Google Review

Brain training at LearningRx was life-changing for my family! All three of us- myself and both of my kids- came into training with very different challenges: one child (8) with textbook ADHD, difficulty with math, and very low confidence; another (6) with significant visual processing challenges and struggling to read; and myself, with brain fog and cognitive dysfunction from neurological Lyme Disease (similar to the cognitive issues that can occur with long COVID). The trainers at LearningRx tailored the program to meet each of our needs and goals, and we’ve all seen tremendous gains in attention, memory, processing speed, and overall confidence. I prefer evidence-based interventions and I read their peer-reviewed research (ADHD, TBI, age-related cognitive decline etc.) before making my initial phone call and was impressed with the studies. And for people who appreciate data like I do: during my training, my working memory improved from 57th percentile to 99th percentile and my auditory memory improved from 17th percentile score to 99th percentile in around three months. I am working on a rigorous graduate degree and can feel the difference in my academics. I highly recommend their program for kids with attention issues or who are struggling to read or retain information in school, or for adults seeking to improve their cognitive skills for any reason. I also found the initial assessment to be fascinating and useful for understanding why my children were struggling the way that they were. Everything I was seeing at home made a lot more sense. If you are on the fence, get assessed and go from there!

Learning RX has made a big difference in my child's confidence and ability to persevere when attempting hard tasks and difficult school assignments. They did not just help with her reading abilities but also her attention span, focus, and processing speed. The staff truly care about each of their students and families. I also appreciated how flexible they were with scheduling even during busy summer months.
